FOUNDER STORY

I thought I'd never wear heels again.

At 17, a car crash left me with two broken legs. My right femur healed with a two-foot metal rod running from my hip to my knee. I was told I might never walk again.

Luckily, I did walk again—but heels were out of the question. Every pair I tried meant hours of pain. It didn't take long before I'd given up.

But then, I took a trip to Spain.

On a 2013 trip to Spain, I wandered into a small boutique and spotted a pair of black patent leather peep-toe heels. Gorgeous. Against my better judgment, I tried them on.

They felt... incredible. I bought them. Wore them the rest of the day. Walked cobblestone streets, danced that night, went to bed bracing for the familiar ache.

The next morning? Nothing. No pain in my feet, legs, or back.

I went back to that boutique and bought two more pairs. Wore them through town after town, day after day. Still nothing.

That's when I discovered the secret: a cork platform sole that flexes with your foot, absorbs shock, and actually supports you through a full day.

That discovery became ALORA.
